Purpose: The West Springfield High School PTSA offers the Mini-Grant program to fund innovative, informative and inspirational projects for WSHS students that go above and beyond traditional opportunities.
Highly rated proposals are those that benefit many students, target an underserved population, have broad academic and curricular value, provide a compelling need for the request, and/or provide tangible benefits to current and future WSHS students.
In the past, awards amounts have been up to $250. This year we have budgeted for one such award, but we would consider additional requests on a case- by-case basis. We recommend submitting requests early.
Any items purchased with grant funds remain the property of West Springfield High School.
Other important information:
Grant funding could be awarded, for example, for: supplies/equipment for classrooms or clubs, publications (books, magazines, newspapers, instructional CDs, videos, software), electronic equipment, construction materials for campus projects.
Grant applicants are asked to spend some time researching the best prices for their desired items. Please note that the library has relationships with wholesale book companies who often can obtain books at a discount, so please check with the library if books are part of your grant request.
- Private transportation or hotel costs for field trips cannot be covered due to PTSA insurance limitations.
- Mini-Grants cannot be requested for athletics team-related requests, as these requests are considered through the Boosters Club.
- Grants cannot be awarded for fundraising projects or to benefit charities outside of WSHS.
- Grants cannot be awarded for school or class ‘spirit’ events.
Applicants must be current WSHS teacher or staff and a WSHS PTSA Member
Mini-Grants are awarded on a first-come, first-serve basis, funds are limited.
